16.1 OUT! CAUGHT! A sharp catch from Mitchell Marsh at third slip and Pat Cummins gets the big breakthrough for Australia, sending his opposite number back to the hut. On a nagging length, angled into off and then leaving the right-hander off the deck. 17 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Skipper, Pat Cummins is on a roll and he has turned the game on its head in the space of one over here. Cummins serves this one on a hard length, angling it in around the top of off but gets the ball to skid through and straighten off the deck. KL Rahul is tentative and is late on the block, playing at it with hard hands too. The ball takes the outer edge of the bat and goes down to the right of the first slip where Usman Khawaja now takes a good low catch. Rahul departs for a duck and India are now reeling at 25/2!

26.1 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Virat Kohli will be livid with himself but Mitchell Starc gets his due and India lose another big wicket. Starc dishes out a full and wide one, bowling it almost in the blockhole outside off and this one slides right across the right-hander. Virat Kohli goes chasing after it and looks to drive but gets an outside edge that goes quickly and down to the left of first slip where Usman Khawaja hangs on to yet another sharp and low catch. Kohli departs cheaply and India are 33/3 at the stroke of LUNCH ON DAY 5!

58.4 OUT! GONE! CAUGHT! Pant can’t hold onto much after Tea and departs after making 30! The ploy of Cummins to bowl a part-timer in Head has paid off for them as they have broken this partnership! Slightly short, just outside off, turning away, from around the wicket. Rishabh Pant goes back in the crease and lofts the pull shot to deep mid-wicket. He doesn’t time it well as it doesn’t come off the middle of the bat. Mitchell Marsh runs into his left and takes this with both hands comfortably. India are 121/4 now.

62.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! BOLAND STRIKES! India is crumbling after Tea as they have lost two wickets in just half an hour! Scott Boland bangs in short, around off, from around the wicket, angling in, then straightens off the deck with an extra bounce. Ravindra Jadeja gets surprised by the bounce and he wants to defend it off the back foot with the full face of the bat. But only manages to get a faint outside edge that flies to the keeper where Alex Carey takes to his right with both hands at chest height. Jadeja is gone at a score of just 2 and India is 127/5. Will Australia bowl out them? Or India will fight? GAME ON!

63.2 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! A hundred in the first inning and just a solitary run for Nitish in the second! Australia are smelling blood in the water now as ‘Garry’ strikes gold! Lyon maintains his line and length. This is drifted fuller and around off. It lands and goes straight on rather than turning in. Nitish Kumar Reddy anticipates the ball to turn and plays inside the line. Edges it which goes flat and low to the left of the first slip. Smith there is quick to react and takes a sharp low catch to his left. Australia need 4 more wickets to win! India further slip down from 121/3 to 130/6, needing 210 more runs.

76.1 OUT! CAUGHT! A half-hearted appeal for a catch again but the umpire shakes his head. Pat Cummins does review it and Australia feel they have got another wicket here. Scott Boland comes back into the attack and serves it on a good length around middle, getting the ball to jag back in off the deck. Akash Deep is a bit back looking to flick it away but the ball beats the inside edge and thuds into the pads before lobbing up straight to Travis Head at forward short leg. Head makes no mistake and RTS does show an inside edge this time around and Australia are now just two wickets away from victory.

78.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Steven Smith with a fine take at first slip and Australia can now see the finish line. Scott Boland and the MCG, what a love affair this is! Just back of a length on off, nibbling away off the deck. Jasprit Bumrah looks to lean on a bit and pushes at it but the ball takes the outside edge and goes down in front of the first slip but Smith is alive to the situation and dives forward to just pouch it above the ground. The replays confirm the same and India now hanging on for dear life.

79.1 OUT! LBW! It’s all over, Australia have completed the comeback in front of a record crowd at the MCG and what a Test we have witnessed here, one for the ages. Nathan Lyon skips in from over the wicket and flattens it up, angling it in from a shorter length and outside off, darting back in a long way. Mohammed Siraj gets a stride well across the line of off and looks to block with a straight bat but the ball comes in and stays low, beating the bat and going on to hit the pads right in front. There’s a loud appeal and the finger goes up but it is reviewed. Nothing on RTS but Ball Tracking comes up with three reds and AUSTRALIA WIN THE BOXING DAY TEST BY 184 RUNS AND GO 2-1 UP IN THE BGT!
