Shan Masood and Babar Azam mounted stiff resistance, as Pakistan wiped off 213 runs from their first-innings deficit of 421 against South Africa on day three (Sunday, January 5, 2025) of the second Test at Newlands, Cape Town. Pakistan, following on after being bowled out for 194 in response to the Proteas’ towering 615 runs, ended day 3 at 213 for 1 with centurion Masood (102 not out) still at the crease. Babar scored 81 as the duo posted a 205-run opening stand to blunt the hosts’ attack in their second essay.
