Netflix’s hit Korean reality dating show Single’s Inferno has returned for an exciting fourth season, and fans are already buzzing about the contestants. One of the most talked-about figures is Jung You-jin, who made waves as the first female contestant to be chosen for a date in Paradise Island by Yuk Jun-seo, the winner of the season’s first game. However, her arrival back at Inferno sparked controversy when she appeared “drunk” and was having fun on a swing, leading to criticism from both fellow contestants and the show’s panel, who found her behaviour unsettling. Despite the backlash, many viewers are coming to her defence, claiming she’s been unfairly judged.

In the episode, when You-jin started swinging, her fellow contestants were quick to judge her personality. Her date, Yuk Jun-seo can be heard saying, “Woah, you think she’s okay? Is she alright.” Bae Ji-yeon added, “She’s having a blast.”

During Jung You Jin’s unexpected late-night antics on Single’s Inferno 4, the panellists too couldn’t hide their surprise. Watching her swing alone after arriving tipsy, Hong Jin-kyung asked, “She’s out there all alone?” Kim Jin-young felt, “That’s a weird thing to do at night. It’s creepy.” Hanhae observed, “Her hair’s fluttering in the wind. It’s kinda scary.” The unusual moment sparked mixed reactions from the viewers.

An individual criticising the makers wrote, “Help? Them showing this unserious camera angle to portray miss You-jin as drunk girl who missed her chance to talk to Jun-seo.”

Another defending her wrote, “She was drunk and having fun on the swing and you all treated her like a maniac. She realised she’s on an island paid free, I would have done the same thing.”

“I think it’s time we talk about how we are past the need for the commentators. Other than it being unnecessary, they’re just annoying and hateful. The way they acted with that one You-jin scene was so odd,” a comment read.

Another mentioned, “I really disliked the whole swing scene and the reactions. You-jin was just drunk and having fun on a swing, harming no one. Both the producers and commentators dramatized the hell out of it. I felt uncomfortable during that.”

One more added, “The commentators always doing too much cause why did they made a whole narrative that You-jin went to the swings for attention when she didn’t say any of that just plain weird.”

Other than Jung You-Jin, Bae Ji-yeon and Yuk Jun-seo, Single’s Inferno season 4 also features Lee Si-An, Kim Min-Seol, Kim Hye-Jin, Kim A-rin, Kim Tae-Hwan, Kook Dong-Ho, Jang Theo and Kim Jeong-Su.
