The Big Bash League match between Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes at The Gabba in Brisbane was halted due to a fire on Thursday.

The DJ booth caught fire at the Gabba in between the BBL match between Hobart and Brisbane.

The incident happened near the scoreboard as several Gabba staff members tried and failed to put the fire out. As per local reports, no one was hurt. The spectators in chairs near the scoreboard were evacuated and asked to sit in a different section as a precaution.

The Hurricanes were batting and had scored 47/0 after four overs in reply to the Heat’s 201/6 when play was halted for several minutes.

“Oh no, the DJ,” Adam Gilchrist was heard saying on commentary.

“We will keep an eye on that. It doesn’t look like that is abating in any way shape or form.”

“Oh no, what’s he done?” Michael Vaughan said.

“He certainly lit up the place,” Brad Haddin said jokingly.

“The music is still going,” Gilchrist added.

“Oh no this could get serious. It is just halting proceedings. I think the umpires have been made aware of what is happening out there, so they just want to make sure nothing gets out of control.”

“Play delayed due to fire, I never thought I would see that,” Haddin said.

Eventually, the small fire was tamed with extinguishers.
